The Dream of Deimos

Deimos found himself sitting on a bench. He had no idea how he had gotten there or where this was. His mind was feeling kind of foggy and he had a sense that reality was distorted. He looked around to try and gather his bearings. Deimos sucked in a breath, for the bench seemed to be sitting on some sort of small, rock island that rose high above a seemingly endless void.
He looked up and found that there was a light shining on him. He peered at it for a minute before coming to the conclusion that the light was magic as it had no source and was simply there.
It took him a bit to realize that there was another person sitting next to him on this bench. The person seemed to be about twelve years old and had blond hair that was pulled back in a short ponytail. Their eyes were an odd mix of blue and pink that reminded him of nebulas. They were wearing a plain white button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a plain off-white skirt.
“How do you do, Deimos?” They said, smiling in a way which made him think that they knew everyone’s most terrible secrets, and much more.
“How-how do you know my name?” he replied.
“Oh, I forgot to introduce myself! How silly of me!” they went on, ignoring him. “My name is Spencer. Spencer Marley. Any pronouns shall suffice, as I have no cares for silly little human social things,” they said, tilting their head slightly. “Pleased to meet you.”
 “You aren’t human?” Deimos inquired.
Spencer gave a laugh. “Alas, sadly I am human but I have no care for humankind nor all of their 'rules.'”
“You don’t care for humankind even though you’re one of them? A human?” Deimos responded, confused on what was happening.
“Regretfully, I am one, but I would rather all humans were to disappear as then the world would be a much more peaceful place,” Spencer said in a singsong voice.
They looked down into the endless void below them, kicking their legs seemingly without a care in the world.
“How are you not afraid of falling into that looming void below?” Deimos asked.
“Oh, is that how you see it? How interesting,” they replied. "To answer your question, reality here is what you make of it. I, for example, see not a void but a peaceful plane of grass."
“What do you mean by that?” Deimos replied, utterly perplexed. He strained his mind and tried to remember anything about what had led him to this point but his mind was hazy.
